How to find out what is the index value for th with class date?

       <tr>
            <th class="date">Date</th>
            <th>Name</th>
            <th>Surname</th>
            <th>Phone</th>
        </tr>

Use $("table").find("th").eq(0) for selecting the first ‘th’ of table. Demo here
